Future Developments
North West Province Project Area
The immediate focus for Namakwa is on:
- the seven nodal areas within the North West Province where Namakwa intends to seek the consolidation of its current mining and prospecting rights with those of neighbouring farms to extract further value and cost synergies, with the ultimate aim of the Directors being able to establish Namakwa as a major presence in the region. To this end, Namakwa has commissioned an airborne photogrammetric survey to produce detailed plans of all of the North West Province area properties, to allow the Directors to develop a systematic strategy for consolidation of both Namakwa's operations and the potential for acquiring rights on neighbouring farms. Photogrammetry employs remote-sensing technology in which geometric properties of objects are determined from photographic images to allow a stereoscopic image to be produced. This data will then allow Namakwa to determine which aspects of its properties can be mined in the most cost effective manner and permit a strategy to be developed for mining outlaying Vlei gravels in an economic manner that will keep haulage costs to a minimum, and recovering more carats from hard calcretised gravel; and
- Pypklip in the Lichtenburg region, where the current strategy of Namakwa is to design a conveyor system, suitable to the terrain, by January 2008 and commence a prospecting programme within four months of the granting of its prospecting right or acceptance of its environmental management plan by the requisite authorities.
