Our History

Namakwa Diamonds traces its origins back to South Africa, 1979.

Sales and trading business established by Tom Kruger in South Africa
Heno Kruger joined the Company and began the strategic expansion of the Trading & Beneficiation Division.
Nico Kruger joined the Company and began the strategy of vertical integration, acquiring high grade, alluvial resources in the North West Province of South Africa, Namibia, DRC and Angola to establish the Mining Division.
Additional capital raised (c.US$230 million) for the consolidation and expansion of the Mining Division.
Main market listing on the London Stock Exchange.
Mining operations in South Africa's North West Province consolidated and long-term mining areas established on the South East and Northern Nodes with advanced DMS technology.
Acquisition of GEM Diamonds assets in the DRC.
Acquisition of a majority interest in the Kao kimberlite pipe in Lesotho.
First river diversions on the Kasai Central Node in the DRC completed, providing a 3 year + mining area of c.200,000 carats per annum. Additional planning undertaken to open up 2 further project areas for long-term mining.
Additional capital raised (US$55m) through a Placing & Open Offer to shareholders on the London Stock Exchange.
Capex requirements for the development of Phase 1 of the Kao kimberlite mine.
Metallurgical test work on Kao kimberlite project in Lesotho moves into advanced stage, with Phase 1 commercial production to commence in September 2011.
Mining and exploration operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo sold to Hall Farm Avenue Limited.
